Special Olympics & Autism

Last week our class participated in the local area Special Olympic games. We had a great time. It is so nice to be together with the families away from school. I have been truly blessed to have such wonderful families to work with. It is not uncommon to have the same students for 5 years, so obviously bonds are formed and I wouldn't change it for the world. Some of these pictures are of kids I taught who are now at the high school. I still feel very connected to them and to their families. During one of the events all of the participants were students I have or have had. It was a great feeling to have all of the them together!

April is National Autism Awareness month. Here is a link to a video and song dealing with Autism. It is very well done. http://www.whatkindofworlddoyouwant.com/videos/view/id/213154

Oprah did an entire show on Autism yesterday. She did a great job on touching on how families are dealing with this "epidemic" as the CDC is now calling it. Here's a link to the show if you want to check it out. http://www2.oprah.com/tows/pastshows/200704/tows_past_20070405.jhtml

Happy Easter everyone!!
